SNAP and the South Shore Country Club are pleased to offer a bowling program for students with special needs. This six-week session is offered to participants ages 4 – 22 who receive special education services. The program will take place on Tuesday afternoons at South Shore Country Club. Dates: October 6, 13, 20, 27, November 3, 10 Time: 4:00 p.m. – 4:45 p.m. Location: South Shore Country Club, 274 South Street, Hingham The program will be limited to 15 participants and 1:1 support will be provided to students who require it. Program Description: This six-week program will provide your child with the opportunity to have fun, socialize, and enjoy the recreational sport everyone loves to play! Come enjoy the fun-filled atmosphere at the South Shore Country Club. Whether your child is 4 years of age or 22 years old, this program will provide unlimited fun for everyone. Special equipment will be provided such as ball ramps so that all ability levels will be accommodated. SNAP and the Cohasset Yoga Center are pleased to offer a yoga program for students with special needs. This program is offered to middle and high school students who receive special education services. The program will take place on Mondays at the Cohasset Yoga Center and will be taught by Kathleen Picardi, who has been a practitioner of yoga for the past five years. Kathleen received “Yoga for the Special Child” training, and she has taught at South Shore Educational Collaborative and South Shore Support Services. Dates: September 28, October 5, 19, 26, November 2, 9 Time: 3:30 – 4:30 p.m. Location: Cohasset Yoga Center, 124 King Street, Cohasset The program will be limited to 10 participants and 1:1 support will be provided to students who require it. The cost of the program is $15/session and it is suggested that participants attend as many sessions as possible in order to receive the most benefit from the program.Students should wear comfortable clothing such as sweatpants and a t-shirt (no jeans). Sneakers should be easy to remove. This class is designed specifically to benefit students with Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Attention Deficit Disorder, Learning Disabilities, and other developmental delays. All levels of ability are welcome. Each class follows the same outline with routines coordinated with the individual’s level of development. Students will participate in five essential yoga practices: music, breathing practices, cleansing practices, body postures and deep relaxation. These practices are designed to strengthen and stretch the entire musculoskeletal system, balance the nervous system, increase breathing efficiency, improve body awareness, improve communication skills, increase each student’s ability to self regulate, and of course provide a relaxing and engaging experience. This program is open to middle and high school students in Hingham, Hull, Norwell, and Cohasset who receive special education services. SNAP is pleased to offer a Fall Soccer Skills, Drills and Scrimmages Program.
It will be held at Union St , the fields near the High School in Hingham. The participants will be separated by up by age groups. There is no cost for this program, but you do need to register. SNAP Fall Soccer will be held on Sundays Dates will be 9/27, 10/4,10/11 10/18, 10/25, 11/1 and Nov 8th. SNAP and the HHSRA are pleased to offer a rowing program for students with special needs. This five-week session is offered to middle and high school students who receive special education services. The program will take place on Wednesday and Friday afternoons at Lincoln Maritime Center (LMC). Wednesday, 9/23 Friday, 9/25 Wednesday, 9/30 Friday, 10/2 Wednesday, 10/7 Friday, 10/9 Wednesday, 10/14 Friday, 10/16 Wednesday, 10/21 Friday, 10/23 Time: 3:00 p.m. – 3:45 p.m. (Please note: arrival time no earlier than 2:55 p.m. – with the exception of the HPS van). Location: Lincoln Maritime Center, 23 Summer Street, Hingham Cost: $65. The program will be limited to 15 participants and 1:1 support will be provided to students who require it. Program Description: The rowing program will provide an opportunity for participants to learn basic rowing skills, perform gentle stretching exercises, understand the importance of water safety, and work alongside teammates. With Coach Hayes as the leader, it will be a fun time for all! What to bring/wear: Close-fitting clothing, sneakers, and a water bottle. Registration: This program is open to middle and high school students in Hingham, Hull, Norwell, and Cohasset who receive special education services. Registration, completed forms, and payment must be received before the start of the program. Please direct any questions to: southshoresnap@gmail.com South Shore SNAP is proud to partner with Hingham Youth Hockey to offer a Learn-to-Skate/Learn to Play Hockey program for children with special needs!
Families may choose either the Learn-to-Skate class, in which children will develop basic skating skills, or the Learn to Play Hockey sessions, which will focus on basic hockey drills and play strategies. Helmet and skates are required for all children. For the hockey program, additional padding is strongly recommended. Participants are encouraged to bring their own equipment but it will be provided if needed. The program will take place at Pilgrim Arena in Hingham on Saturdays [9/12 - 11/7] from 11:30am-12:20pm and is open to children with special needs, ages 4-22, from Hingham, Hull, Cohasset and Norwell.
