1/26-3/9, South Shore SNAP does YOGA in Cohasset!

SNAP/Cohasset Yoga Center
Open to Hingham and Cohasset Residents

SNAP and the Cohasset Yoga Center are pleased to offer a six-week yoga program for students with special needs.  This program is offered to high school students who receive special education services.  The program will take place on Monday afternoons at the Cohasset Yoga Center and will be taught by Kathleen Picardi, who has been a practitioner of yoga for the past five years.  Kathleen received “Yoga for the Special Child” training, and she has taught at South Shore Educational Collaborative and South Shore Support Services.    

The one-hour sessions will take place on the following dates: 

January 26, February 2, February 9, February 23, March 2, and March 9

Time:  3:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.


Location:  Cohasset Yoga Center, 124 King Street, Cohasset

The program will be limited to 10 participants and 1:1 support will be provided to students who require it. 


The cost of the program is $90 

Students should wear comfortable clothing such as sweatpants and a t-shirt (no jeans).  Sneakers should be easy to remove.

"KNIGHTS" 
"Knights!" A heart-racing history of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table.  Every young actor enjoys the thrill of swash- buckling knighthood and the regal elegance of King Arthur's court!  Grades K-2 (15 students 6 preferably girls, 9 preferably boys)List of Roles: King Arthur, Merlin, Merlin's Owl, Gweneviere, Gweneviere's (2) hand maidens, Sir Lancelot, Lord Mordred, Lady Mordred, Mordred's Evil Footman, Court Jester, 4 Knights of the Round Table Tuition: $200. per student Grades K-2
Thursday afternoons:  (1 hour rehearsal) 4-5 p.m.
SCHEDULE: 1/15 [audition], 1/16, 1/23, 1/30, 2/6, 2/13, 2/27, 3/6, 3/13 [Dress Rehearsal 2 hr.], 3/14 Performance (Fri. 6 pm)


“The Summer of ‘66”
An original summer musical about surfing.  Teenagers fight to bring surfing to their beach, while local officials fight against it.  This retro comedy features music of  “The Beach Boys”.   Grades 3-6
Tuition: $250. per student 18-20 students.
Tuesday afternoons: (1.5 hour rehearsal) 4-5:30 p.m.

Archaeology and Ancient History Program

Is your child a budding archaeologist? Is he or she interested in ancient history and mythology? During this fun afternoon, kids will learn about ancient civilizations and explore archaeology through age appropriate, hands-on crafts, activities and projects, such as reassembling “ancient” pottery and  making cuneiform clay tablets.  The workshop is taught by Anya Gruber, a Smith College junior and two time Summer Recreation Counselor.

Running
 Club
  for 3rd-5th Grade Boys and Girls
Meet outside the gym at Deer Hill at 2:40. Learn proper stretching, pacing and form for running. Drills, road runs and hills. Build you run up to 1 mile or more under experienced coaches. Come with a great attitude.
Running Club Jr. - Boys & Girls K-2 Graders
Ready for running club but just a bit young for road runs and racing? Come try our new Running Club Junior. Learn proper stretching, form and introduction to pacing. Running drills and some hills. Games and relay races.  
Middle School Running Club - Boys & Girls 6th - 8th Graders
Calling all middle school runners to join us for one day a week on Milliken field. Learn proper stretching, pace instruction, road running and speed drills. Great conditioning for other sports. Running shoes and a bottle of water required. All levels welcome.

General Information
  • We will train runners for 1 mile competitive meets against local running groups. 
  • All levels of interested runners are welcome. 
  • For boys and girls grades 3 through 5.

middle school girls night out

Come hang out with your friends in a casual environment with pizza, drinks and treats, explore your artsy side and have some laughs.  Middle School girls night out is a peer-to-peer mentoring program with the mission to help young teenaged girls build self-esteem, develop leadership skills and explore how to handle difficult social situations.
