South Shore SNAP is proud to partner with Notre Dame to offer a Winter Basketball program for children with special needs. In this program children will be introduced to the sport and develop basic basketball skills. Hour of Fun and Games at NDA Dates: Saturdays, January 23 – February 27 Time: 2:00-3:00 p.m. Location: Notre Dame Academy, 1073 Main Street, Hingham Cost: $25 Note: the program will not take place on February 20. Program Description: Join us for a low key and fun hour of sports and games. We will play soccer, dodge ball, kick ball and more fun games each week. This program will run on Saturdays [1/16-2/27] from 2-3 p.m. at Notre Dame Academy in Hingham, immediately following SNAP Basketball. Bowling Dates: January 19, 26, February 2, 9, 23, and March 1 Note: the program will not take place on February 16. Time: 4:00 p.m. – 4:45 p.m. Location: South Shore Country Club, 274 South Street, Hingham Cost: $40 SNAP and the South Shore Country Club are pleased to offer a bowling program for students with special needs. The program will be limited to 15 participants and 1:1 support will be provided to students who require it. Program Description: This six-week program will provide your child with the opportunity to have fun, socialize, and enjoy the recreational sport everyone loves to play! Come enjoy the fun-filled atmosphere at the South Shore Country Club. Whether your child is 4 years of age or 22 years old, this program will provide unlimited fun for everyone. Special equipment will be provided such as ball ramps so that all ability levels will be accommodated. Registration, completed forms, and payment must be received before the start of the program. Crew Program Dates: Mondays, January 25 - March 14 Location: Welcome Center, Wompatuck State Park, Hingham Times: 2:45-3:45 p.m. Cost: $50 Note: the program will not take place on February 15. SNAP and the HHSRA are pleased to offer a rowing program for students with special needs. This seven-week session is offered to middle and high school students who receive special education services. The program will be limited to 15 students and 1:1 support will be provided to students who require it. Program Description: The rowing program will provide an opportunity for participants to learn basic rowing skills, perform gentle stretching exercises, understand the importance of water safety, and work alongside teammates. With Coach Hayes as the leader, it will be a fun time for all! What to bring/wear: Close fitting clothing, sneakers and a water bottle. Dance Program Dates: Wednesdays, January 27 - March 9 Location: East Elementary School - Multipurpose room Times: Ages pre-K through K: Wednesdays 4:30-5:00 p.m. Ages Grade 1- age 22: Wednesdays 5:15-6:00 p.m. Cost: $50 *Registration ends January 25th Note: the program will not take place on February 17. Program Description: This program will blend creative movement and dance to promote self-esteem, body-awareness, self-regulation, and social skills. Sessions will begin with a warm-up/stretch and conclude with a brief relaxation exercise. A range of activities and props will be integrated each week including games, dancing scarves, and musical instruments. As the sessions progress, participants will work together to develop a routine for at least one song. This program will be facilitated by Kaitlyn Mazzilli, M.A., Registered Dance/Movement Therapist (R-DMT) and Mental Health Counselor. Kaitlyn is an energetic leader with experience running dance groups for kids with special needs. She was also the coordinator for the 2014 South Shore SNAP Summer Program and instructor for 2014-15 SNAP Dance. Trained high school student volunteers will also assist in each session! What to Bring/Wear: Please bring a bottle of water. Participants must wear clothes suitable for movement (no jeans) and sneakers. Yoga Program Dates: Fridays, January 22 - March 18 Location: Hingham Recreational Center, 220 Central Street, Hingham Times: 3:30-4:30 p.m. Cost: $12/session Note: the program will not take place on February 19. SNAP is pleased to offer a yoga program for students in third grade through high school who receive special education services. The program will be limited to 10 participants and 1:1 support will be provided to students who require it. Program Description: This class is designed specifically to benefit students with Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Attention Deficit Disorder, Learning Disabilities, and other developmental delays. Kathleen Picardi, who has been a practitioner of yoga for the past six years, will teach the program. She received “Yoga for the Special Child” training and has taught at South Shore Educational Collaborative and South Shore Support Services. All levels of ability are welcome. What to bring/wear: Students should wear comfortable clothing such as sweatpants and a t-shirt (no jeans). Sneakers should be easy to remove All programs are open to children who receive special education services, from Hingham, Hull, Hanover, Cohasset & Norwell, ages 4-22, unless otherwise noted.
