10/7, Cohasset’s New Director of Student Services presents
“Basic Rights in Special Education” Cohasset SEPAC is hosting “Basic Rights in Special Education” presented by Mary Buchanan, Cohasset School District’s new Director of Student Services. The presentation will be held Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at the Paul Pratt Library at 7:00pm. Mary will provide families with an introduction to their rights and responsibilities under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), Massachusetts Special Education Law and No Child Left Behind (NCLB). Parents/Guardians will learn how to be effective partners with their child’s school. This partnership includes deciding eligibility for special education, how to plan, make decisions, and monitor their child’s progress. They will learn about the language and rights within Individual Education Plans (IEP's), and 504 Plans within the special education process and be able to address questions or concerns. The presentation is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.

Good thoughts! Every parent sets a goal to grow up their kids healthy as well as a good human being. All the positive traits in a person can be built by providing them proper education.

Mary will provide families with an introduction to their rights and responsibilities.As well as It is a great plan for parents about kids education, that make decisions, and monitor their child’s progress.
