“Achieving Dreams” presented by author Rebecca Rizoli Cohasset Special Education Parent Advisory Council (SEPAC) is pleased to host “Achieving Dreams” presented by Rebecca Rizoli of The Federation for Children with Special Needs (FCSN). Cohasset Public Schools - Community Room in the Administrative Offices (143 Pond Street) Tuesday, December 1st 7pm-9pm. Parents and Guardians will learn how to help their children develop self-determination and self-advocacy skills through acceptance of their disability and recognizing and embracing their talents, abilities and strengths. Rebecca Rizoli, the author of Distracted Girl, has dedicated her professional career to youth and children with ADHD and other special needs, as well as their families. She is the Youth with Disabilities Coordinator at the Federation for Children with Special Needs in Boston, Massachusetts, where she reaches out to youth aged 14-25 who are transitioning to adult life. She has also written numerous articles for the Federation's newsletter and blog, particularly around the topics of self-determination, self-advocacy, and transition. Her work has also appeared in the Boston Parents' Paper, and she has been interviewed on southern Masschusetts area radio station WATD-FM. Rebecca has also presented several workshops on self-determination and self-advocacy. Rebecca serves on the Board of Directors of The Chapman Farm School, an inclusion 6-12 school in Norwell, MA. She is on the planning committee for the Youth Leadership Forum, a four day conference for youth with disabilities sponsored by Easter Seals. She is also a mentor for Partners for Youth with Disabilities. The presentation is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.
