RAVE-O TrainingThe RAVE-O program is a one-of-a-kind, small-group reading intervention that targets serious reading challenges. Its unique, cutting-edge approach balances science and motivation to accelerate learning, close and prevent the achievement gap, and promote fluency, comprehension, and deep reading. RAVE-O instruction is built on the exploration of core words—the sounds, word parts, meanings, connections—and how they function in text. The program integrates phonology, morphology, orthography, semantics, syntax and motivational strategies in order to broaden and deepen students’ knowledge about words .The main premise of the program is that the more students know about a word, the more quickly they can read and understand it which results in improvements in reading fluency and comprehension. Each RAVE-O training provides 12 hours of professional development over two days to prepare professionals to implement the curriculum immediately. Workshops take place at the Center for Reading and Language Research on the Tufts University Campus in Medford, MA and cost $375 (RAVE-O materials are not included with the cost of the workshop.
