Guiding Parents Through School Choice
In cities where traditional school boundaries are fluid and more options, such as charters, have entered the mix of K-12, selecting a school is an increasingly complex endeavor for parents. Recent research shows that an abundance of school choice doesn't guarantee access, and many parents in high-choice cities struggle to find adequate information, transportation, and, ultimately, the right school for their children. But some cities, like Denver, are leading the way in practices to help ease the burden on parents, such as universal enrollment systems and partnerships between districts and charter schools to assist parents in making informed choices. Our guests will discuss the realities, research, and practice of guiding families through choice. Underwriting for the content for this webinar has been provided by the Walton Family Foundation Guests: Brian Eschbacher, director of planning and enrollment services, Denver school district Betheny Gross, senior research analyst and research director, Center on Reinventing Public Education, University of Washington This webinar will be moderated by Arianna Prothero, staff writer, Education Week Register now for this free live webinar.
